4 Life Lessons from the Bhagavad Gita

Along with the physical/practical techniques of Yoga (postures, breathing, concentration, meditation) Yogic scripture can bring much peace and clarity to you as you explore and study Yoga’s timeless teachings. One very special text we often quote at Yoga Grace is the Bhagavad Gita. The Bhagavad Gita, or "Song of the Lord," is a 700-verse dialogue contained within the great epic, the Mahabharata. It is filled, beginning to end, with profound teachings for those on the path of Yoga. Here are a few lessons to take in today!

4 uplifting teachings from the Bhagavad Gita to remind yourself of today:

1. The divine is in YOU (& everyone else)

“I (Krishna, the Divine manifest) am seated in the hearts of all living beings.” 15.15

2. A part of you (& everyone) is eternal

“The soul is neither born, nor does it ever die; nor having once existed, does it ever cease to be. The soul is without birth, eternal, immortal, and ageless.“ 2.20

3. It’s good to be yourself!

“It is far better to perform one’s natural prescribed duty, though tinged with faults, than to perform another’s prescribed duty perfectly.” 3.35

4. You can learn to control your mind, Yogi!

“The Yogi who has conquered the mind rises above the dualities of cold and heat, joy and sorrow, and honour and dishonour. Such Yogis remain peaceful and steadfast in their devotion.” 6.6

May these wise, timeless teachings bring you clarity and peace when you need them, dear friends!
